Assalamu'alaikum peeps :)

I am 5 hours away from 2012 and I just got back from my first multistage job which required me to be on location for 24 hrs, with only 1 hour sleep. Heck yeah ;) Despite that, I am very high-spirited (zombie sebenanye) and I sooo look forward towards 2012 ! *fist pumping y'all !!*

Well 2011 :D

Oh how I'll miss you ! 2011 has been a very special year for me, as there were many achievements that I wished for, worked hard for, prayed for, and earned :) I think it went by like a breeze though ! And they say time flies because you're having a good time :)

Since I came to the States on November 27th, 2010.. life has been a ride of a roller coaster. 2011 focuses more on career progression, self development, adventures, discoveries and basically, lessons in life. Not that it hasn't been so before, but this time it is in a different perspective... 'tis just in a different way.

Some highlights throughout 2011:

1) Me blooming as a Schlumberger Field Engineer I, an International Mobile assigned with her first job and first assignment to Bakersfield, California.

Hi guys !! Long time no pen :) I hope everyone has been doing fine in their own way ya ;)

10 Things I miss about Malaysia tanah airku

1) Mentekedarah nasi lemak kalau lapa pepagi, mentekedarah kat mapley kalau lapa malam2.

Sedap oh !

2) Public holiday yang banyak amat sebab negara kita ni berbilang kaum. Jadinya raya semua kaum cuti, CNY semua kaum cuti, Deepavali semua kaum cuti, Xmas pun semua kaum cuti ! Pastu cuti kalau ada peristiwa apa2, birthday sapa2 :)

3) Jejaka2 ganteng nusantara. Dah penat tengok jejaka2 ganteng mata biru serta blondie,

Yang mana satu pilihan kalbu ?

4) Being pampared, being driven around.... kat sini saya sangat independent OK ! Pegi mana2 it is me and Duchess :)

5) Kalau lapa, singgah je mana2 gerai sebab inshaAllah memang confirm halal.... sini I cook like 90% of the time OK. At home my motherr cooks for meeeeeee (the best in the world oh!)

6) Kehadiran air di ruang privacy (restroom). Nammo guna tissue oh.

7) Juadah2 enak di Malaysia..... amboih pikiaq makan ja hang noooo ! Oh and not forgetting, buah-buahan tempatan yang rugiii omputih tak pernah makan ! Durian, manggis, ciku, langsat, serta rambutan.

8) Gatherings and gatherings.... we Malaysians love gatherings. Potluck di tempat kerja, annual dinners, smayang jumaat etc etc :)

9) Azan yang acapkali berkumandang di rumah / di college... I miss that so badly. Time balik Malaysia haritu sayuuu sebab duk dengar azan kat masjid kat umah.

10) Dah tentulah kasih sayang serta perhatian tak terhingga dari keluarga :) I still get those even from afar though. However dah dibiasakan peluk cium dari kecik.. jadi rindulah semua tu :)

10 Things that are going to make it hard for me to leave this beautiful USA land.

1) UNLIMITED shopping. Sini shopping sangat haru okay. Murah tahap sawan. Deals tahap gaban. It can NEVER go wrong. Hunnss hnss hnsss (semput)

Shop shop shop ! Walk in or online ? :D

2) Gentlemen. Pintu pasti dibuka for us ladies when we are entering/exiting any premises.

3) 4 seasons. Well actually only 3. Because the summer sucks. And the winter rawks !!! ^^

Ingatkan Malaysia panas ya ampun. Bila datang summer kat sini waduuuuhhhh

4) Courtesy. Sini semua orang sangat bersopan dan penuh bersemangat. Especially customer service la. Kalau orang kat Malaysia cakap macam diorg kat sini bercakap, confirm dikatakan dramatik/over.

5) Jalan raya yang besar2 serta lebar2.

6) Kuat memuji or very high in complimenting. Kalau kita pakai something yang diorg rasa cantik, diorg akan come forward and let us know. Kalau they think you did a good job, they will say it right to your face.

7) Kalau shopping sensorang, macam tak shopping sensorang pun. Kalau kita cuba kasut, sebelah lain sebelah lain, misti the other people (guys included) will voluntarily tell you which one is cute/pretty. Same goes if they need opinion, they will come to you and ask, which one is better?

8) Mentality yang luas serta jitu. Bukan open-minded, but higher mentality quality. Especially in my company yang berbilang kaum bangsa dan agama, wah mmg betul orang cakap, jauh perjalanan luas pemandangan. Also we tend to appreciate what we have, and spot our advantages. Yelah, kalau buah oren letak sama buah oren, kita cuma compare yang mana manis, masam, besar kecik. Tapi kalau buah oren letak dengan durian, epal, duku dan papaya.... kita tau la keistimewaan kita :) Betul tak ?

9) I think I know a little bit of 15 languages already. Malay, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Romanian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tamil, Hindustan, Siamese, Tagalog, Korean, Japanese. And by "little bit", I mean maybe a phrase or two. Simply because I have friends from their respective ethnicities.

I'm sure there are more than 20 ethnicities in this picture. Spot the Malaysian ;)

10) I just sooo love my life here :)

Surely these are not all... however these are the ones that crosses my mind. Just for sharing :)

Of Being Blue & Hairy

I was on location for a Well Cementing job yesterday from when it's dark.. to sunrise.. and sunny noon.. till its dark again. The well was having so much problems, they were stuck at every inch of the way while pulling the pipes out of hole. Finally at late evening they were able to run casings and we were able to cement by midnight approx. (the next day).

That's the well right there. Gambar kurang jelas iya.

In the client's eye (it was Chevron yesterday), it is wayyy cheaper to pay Schlumberger the extra hours that we're waiting rather than to pay the rig costs if they relief us and have to wait for another Cementing team when they are actually ready for us. Hence, they just keep us waiting. No biggie, we're okay with that.

After hours of sleeping and after grabbing lunch (see why we're okay with waiting), it's time to watch movie I suppose.

Heda: "Hey guys, wanna watch a movie?"
Manuel: What movie you got?"

My Awesome 24th Birthday Days

Day 1: April 18th 2011; 12.00am Malaysian time.

I was deep in my sleep since working in the lab has been pretty hectic. However I received Skype call, it was from my family in Malaysia;

...with a cake ! Yayy !

And just like new year, we celebrated the start and end of my birthday Malaysian-time and USA-time; together. Thank God for Skype ;) And my days off happen to fall on the right dates! Hehe :)

Day2: April 18th 2011, U.S.A time.

We are the blue-blood family. Comes with that is our hectic and clashing schedule. But I'm happy that Murad here is not occupied. So we went out for little birthday feast.

Vacation time !! We planned a little birthday vacation to Hollywood per se ! The other day I just went to Universal Studio Hollywood..this time it's tour around LA. Chehh tourist sgt kan!

Here is where we visit some famous Hollywood houses including Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Tom-Kate Cruise, etc etc. The tour includes visit to their favourite dine-in, the restaurants they own, where they party, also err...where they killed themselves. Personal opinion, peduli apa kan? Bukan cara kita.

Ada orang sedih sbb xsempat pegi Madame Tussauds Hollywood... dah tutup at 6pm.

It was all fun ! But what makes me all the more happier are the over 250++ birthday shoutouts (after 250 I lost count hahah) that I received on my birthday. Streaming and streaming sans facebook, video calls, gtalk, bbm, twitter, gmail etc etc.At least, 200+ people care for me and think of me. That makes me the happiest babbit :D Thanks guys u rawk my world !! God bless u & me!

So yeah, this is to compensate for the birthday post I missed last year because I started my temp job on the 19th April, then I got busy. I've experienced too much miracle in just a short year, I feel a million times smaller than a particle; compared to Allah's Grace. And that is just an understatement. Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli haal.

And guys ! If last year, the news about being attached to US with Schlumberger is my best birthday present, this year;

Now, who's the hot aunty? :D :D :D

My sister is due on December 15th. Bunting pelamin kakak aku sorang ni. I pray that everything goes great, blessed, and miraculous throughout. Ameen :)

Interesting Birthday Facts:

1) In Islamic calender my birthday is actually 19 Syaaban 1407. So this year 19 Syaaban 1432 (see, technically I am actually 25yrs old instead of 24 years old !!) is equivalent to July 21st. Tatau la can ingat onot because I have never gave a thought about it until now. Not many people do anyways.

2) What's uber special this year.. is that I get double celebrations. This is the longest birthday celebration I've had.. and it feels awesome. I feel loved and blessed :)

3) I was working so hard in the lab on night shift when I was surprised by a lovely birthday present at approx. 1am.

Makes me smile to the earsssss :))

18th April is approaching and I do, look forward towards it. I haven't decided on what to do on that day though ! I'm just happy I got the day off ;) And the next. Last year my family kidnapped me to a surprise vacation on my birthday. It was a blastful weekend ! Seronok ;) Semangat time April because we Aprilian babies are awesome ! Aceceh ;)

As for this week, part of my training program, I am attached to the Bakersfield Laboratory, to gain experience and to learn how to test the cement that we use during jobs. (I am in Cementing segment btw). This is to prepare me before I go to school.

And by school here, I dont mean that I am going to college, or to school per se. For the blue-blood family, we Field Engineer Trainees(FET) will have to attend the Operating School whereby we learn the detailed theoretical knowledge and some hands-on too. And get tested on it later on. Tak senang nak jadi FE tau ! After school baru we break out and become, well, Field Engineers :) *fingers crossed*

My school will be on the 6th June-15th July in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It'll be summer by then so it'd better be good. So until school other than going on jobs, I will be attached to the lab, the bulkplant, workshop, and then jobs again etc.

So..... here I am. In the lab. Oh have I mentioned my shift is from 5pm to 5am the next day? Wuwuw. Ironically, on contrary to going on jobs (which is the main business dude!) , I just get to go back, then sleep, then wake up and get ready, and then go to the lab again.... kinda the chasing-tail situation. Penat oh ! Nasib baik fun though :)

It's true what they say, hands-on is wayyyy more adventurous than sitting in the office (although you get to be pretty in heels and pretty dresses ngehehehehhh).

So, April.

Awal-awal dah I thought of rewarding myself ! And God knows why la kan, I stumbled upon an online shopping link of the va-va-voom designer labels yang ada insane percentage off.

Well I told them not to give me any bulky stuffs, just a card would suffice because I'll be really sad if it got lost in mail. And I am tremendously happy with what I get from em! When I skyped with them to show, they said;

"Macam mimpi dah sampai kat Anya, it was just in our hands the other day".

Good Morning Malaysians ! Start your day gun-blazing ayte ! Or mebe bfast nasi lemak sambal kerang ke. Urghh !! (kene blaja buat nalem)

Since I have not received any calls up to now (my job is on-call-basis), I thought why not just scribble on my sister's Private Reception Party. Yes !! a) Chaque is married b) After akad is her reception party c) It's private !!

So as I have explained a few posts back, pictures featured in here are all from Skype Snapshots and pictures bbm-ed to me by Paksu and Wanchu (the rest were too busy :p). Plus the official photographer is taking forever to process the pictures! (Well actually takla forever pun, standard la semenanye. I yang tak sabar sangat ;p)

My sister's private reception party took place after the akad in the morning. It was held at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur on March 18th 2011, 8pm (Malaysian time) and 5am (USA time). (Speaking like a true reporter siut). I woke up at 4am...

... and this is how mamai I look !

She painted the whole event black and red, as you can see already, and that is sooo Chaque. We literally begged her not to look so gothic and to not play My Chemical Romance during her reception. Thank God she listened... hehe :) My beloved mum and both my sisters look stunning in their respective outfits too. Not to mention the rest of the Badrina's clan.

I truly felt like I was really there and surrounded by my loving family. Mama and Baby were carrying the laptop everywhere to 'show' me around and I spoke to one after another beloved family member. Granted, the connection wasn't helping. But that's miles away better than nothing :) I spoke to Papa, Pak Chak, Pak Su, Wanchu, my siblings nephews nieces and many other countless happy faces !

To my beloved sister @Nursyazela Badrina and bro-in-law @Hazim Noh, Anya doakan your marriage bahagia selamanya hendaknya.

Now imagine what the opposite does to him.

3) Review the characteristics of the Hoor Al-Ayn (women of jannah), and try to imitate them. The Qur’an and Sunnah describe the women in jannah with certain characteristics. Such as the silk they wear, their large dark eyes, their singing to their husband, etc. Try it, wear silk for your husband, put Kohl in your eyes to ‘enlarge’ them, and sing to your husband.

4) Do things together or at least allocate some time of the day to give him your undivided attention. Be sincere in appreciating him, show interest in his day, his activities, his thoughts and opinions. Give him advice and comfort him when needed. Spend your husband’s money carefully and try to keep him informed of where his money is being spent. Remember not to spend large amounts of his money without his permission. Show caring and concern for his relatives as this is a sure way of securing a place in his heart. Never object when he spends on them, as this is a source of abundance in provision and increase in life span.

5) Joke and play games with your husband. A mans secret: they seek women who are light-hearted and have a sense of humour. As Rasulullah SAW told Jabir to marry someone who would make him laugh and he would make her laugh. Be cheerful and humorous, smile often, don’t feel shy to be affectionate with your husband and make him feel really happy to be around you. Express your love frequently and creatively, rather than waiting for him to do so first.

6) Be grateful to your husband. Remind yourself that it’s a tough world out there and your husband works very hard to provide for you. So whatever you do, don’t compare him to other men, unless it is favourably. Thank your husband constantly for the nice things he does. Let him know that you appreciate his efforts, not just through your words, but also your actions. This is one of the most important techniques, as the opposite is a characteristic of the women of hellfire.

7) Don’t fly into a rage when you have a difference of opinion or he criticizes you. Stay calm, control your tongue and don’t challenge your husband’s authority at that time. Use your wisdom, tactics and powers of persuasion later to try to explain your point of view. Believe the best, not the worst about him. Be forgiving and accept apologies graciously rather than holding grudges and bringing up mistakes of the past. An argument is a fire in the house. Extinguish it with a simple ‘I’m sorry’ even if it is not your fault. When you fight back, you are only adding wood to the fire. Watch how sweetly an argument will end when you just say sincerely, “Look, I’m sorry. Let’s be friends.”

8) Always seek to please your husband, for he is your key to jannah. Rasulullah SAW taught us that any women who dies in a state where her husband is pleased with her, shall enter jannah. So please him. Simple things like serve him the foods he likes, remembering that variety is the spice of life. Try to eat together as this fosters companionship.

9) Listen and Obey! Obeying your husband is fard (obligatory). Remember that your husband is the head of the family and as long as obedience to him does not entail any sin, it is your duty to obey him. Show respect for your husband by not divulging your private and confidential issues to others, or by complaining about him to people or discussing your marital problems with those who cannot help you.

10) Make dua to Allah SWT to make your marriage and relationship successful. All good things are from Allah. Never forget to ask Allah SWT for the blessing of having a successful marriage that begins in this dunya and continues on - by the Mercy of Allah SWT into jannah.

May Allah SWT give us the favour of changing what we can change (like ourselves), patience with what we cannot change (like our spouse), and the wisdom to understand the difference. Whatever truth is in it is from Allah and His Messenger, and whatever mistakes are from the shaytaan and myself; And Allah and His Messenger are absolved from it.

How to be A Successful Husband

1) Dress up for your wife, look clean and smell good. When was the last time us men went shopping for designer pajamas? Just like the husband wants his wife to look nice for him, she also wants her husband to dress up for her too. Remember that Rasulullah SAW would always start with Miswak when returning home and always loved the sweetest smells.

2) Use the cutest names for your wife. Rasulullah SAW had nicknames for his wives, ones that they loved. Call your wife by the most beloved names to her, and avoid using names that hurt their feelings.

3) Don’t treat her like a fly. We never think about a fly in our daily lives until it ‘bugs’ us. Similarly, a wife will do well all day - which brings no attention from the husband - until she does something to ‘bug’ him. Don’t treat her like this; recognize all the good that she does and focus on that.

4) If you see wrong from your wife, try being silent and do not comment! This is one of the ways Rasulullah SAW used when he would see something inappropriate from his wives Radiallahu Anhunn. It is something that very few muslim men have learnt or practice with their wives.

5) Smile at your wife whenever you see her and embrace her often. Smiling is sadaqah and your wife is not exempt from the muslim ummah. Imagine life with her constantly seeing you smiling. Remember also those Ahadith when Rasulullah SAW would kiss his wife before leaving for Salah, even if he was fasting.

6) Thank her for all that she does for you. Then thank her again! Take for example a dinner at your house. She makes the food, cleans the home, and a dozen other tasks to prepare. And sometimes the only acknowledgement she receives is that there needed to be more salt in the soup. Don’t be that person; thank her!

7) Ask her to write down the last ten things you did for her that made her happy. Then go and do them again. It may be hard to recognize what makes her happy. You don’t have to play a guessing game, ask her and work on repeating those things in your life.

8) Don’t belittle her desires. Comfort her. Sometimes the men may look down upon the requests of their wives. Rasulullah SAW set the example for us in an incident when Safiyyah RA was crying because, as she said, he had put her on a slow camel. He wiped her tears, comforted her, and brought her the camel.

9) Be humorous and play games with your wife. Make her laugh, have little ‘inside’ jokes and moments with her. Honestly your wifes laughter is one of the best sounds in life. Make her smile keep & her happy. Look at how Rasulullah SAW would race his wife Aisha RA in the desert. When was the last time we did something like that?

10) Always remember the words of Allah’s Messenger SAW: “The best of you are those who treat their families the best. And I am the best amongst you to my family.” Try to be the best!

Never forget to make dua to Allah SWT to make your marriage successful. And Allah SWT knows best.

031811: Life Broadcast from Malaysia to Bakersfield, USA

It is my day off today and I am v-happy ! Altho this baby blog here has been ogling for attention after my first 'pat' yesterday. Yeah, yeah, momma's here.

Aaanyway. Including tomorrow, I will be on offdays for 7 days straight !! *fireworks*

Ok. Lets cut it. What actually happened was that from Wednesday-Friday, my oh-so-nice boss and my kind supervisor gave me 3 days off for me to attend my eldest sister's wedding. Yes. My sister's getting married !! And on Sunday and Saturday, it was supposed to be my days-on rotation but I received no calls to work. And Monday Tuesday is my scheduled days off.Hahah. How lucky I happen to be, kan?

So yeah. Reverting to the original impetus of this post, since I just arrived here in the US, and the trip back to Malaysia would cost me $2000 (around RM6k) average, I knew already I can't make it back to Malaysia. Well, not yet. For that matter, commuting to and fro takes 4 days in total, plus the time I spend there, as a greenhat I sure am not eligible for that kind of vacation. But then again, not yet :)

Thankfully, Skype played hero ! *sighs in relief*

The holy matrimony was held at Masjid TTDI on March 18th 2011 at 11am (Malaysian Time) and March 17th 2011 at 8pm (USA Time). Alhamdulillah everything went well. Together with us on that day are also the closest relatives and friends.

To comment on my whole Skype experience, expectedly its clarity was fluctuating. Kejap clear, kejap tak. But you know what? You take what you can get. To be able to witness the whole event, live, is a sheer bliss in itself. And I am utterly grateful for that.

Now bloodline beings, I have not been writing much huh ? *bambi eyes*

And sooo, that qualifies me to write again !!

Assalamu'alaikum friends :)

Boy, it feels like pulang ke pangkal jalan. Bahahahh. How much I miss writing ! Tapi tapi tapi.. hahahah banyak tapinye ! But before I get into that, I nak announce kat sini that mulai sekarang, I akan pakai banyak bahasa melayu, or to be precise, manglish !!

Ada 2 reasons why i will speak more of malay sekarang:

1) Memandangkan dah tercampak kat bumi USA ni, jadinya circle of friends is extended to many, many races, nationality, colour, culture, religion and languages. Jadi dari segi tu, i memang unique dari segi bahasa melayu kan? Melayu je boleh cakap melayu ! Yayy !! D Jadi i akan tulis banyak manglish sebab tak nak diorg ni paham semenanye. Teehee.

2) I have to admit, i miss malay language sangat because here, i speak 100% english. Or rather 99% english... another 1% tu still malay TERUTAMANYA ketika nak meluahkan rasa hati. Especially time tak puas hati la kan. Exempli gratia "mengong la mamat neh". "takpela tak payah!". "pergh cari pasal la pulak kau ni kaan". Time ni rasa macam sangat exotic :P:P Hahah gurau ja. My friends sume pun laayaaan jah so nice of u guys :))

So now, lets get into why I have been silent. Not to say it is obligatory that I explain myself but, well, just because ! Why not kan?

1) Paling utama sekali, I sangat sentap bila dapat tau ada orang yang I xberkenan, baca blog I. I felt like I was stripped naked in front of that person ! If only I could set the blog to be open to all reader except ...., ... and .... ! Tapi xboleh kan? But lama2 I decide macam, insignificant pun orang2 tersebut, so lantakla diorang nak baca. Janji I satisfy my writing needs :)

2) Emm, malas nak share kat sini, but everyone is doing well now,so Alhamdulillaah :)

3) Of course because I got busy laa.. hehe. Then I lost momentum :(

So yeahhh. That's y. But anyway what made me wrote again is because I have received few comments on some of posts which I have not replied yet, they are actually questions on what I wrote. So I'm more than happy to inspire, encourage and advice the best I can. Therefore I'll try my best to write again. Also most importantly, to let out a lot of stuff that I keep in my heart ! So yeahhh.

Muslim Women : Why Can't We All Just Get Along ?

I've been wearing hijab for almost 16 years alhamdulillah, but I'll be the first to say I didn't always look "modest". In fact, like most women, hijabi or otherwise, I've been through many phases trying to find my own personal style and getting comfortable with my body and self.

Today there is a pervasive misconception that wearing the hijab instantly renders one modest, but I couldn't disagree more. Hijab is a concerted effort towards modesty but by no means does one wearing hijab automatically become modest. Modesty, after all, is a disposition, an ATTITUDE. You can wear hijab and act completely immodest or you can not wear hijab and exude it from your head to your feet. In fact, some of the most modest women I know do not wear hijab and increasingly I'm beginning to see many girls who wear hijab yet do not dress or act very modestly. So, it's not so black and white.

In my personal life I am surrounded by beautiful Muslim women, some of them wear hijab and some of them do not. Unfortunately, I've found that the issue of hijab has been one of the most divisive among the women of our community. On both sides of the divide there is prejudice, judgement, misconception, disrespect and A LOT of ego. Those who wear hijab can knowingly or sometimes even unknowingly give off an air of self-righteousness as though they are the only ones with a claim on piety and modesty. Those who don't wear hijab are often mistreated, judged or discriminated against for not doing so which elicits an often unfair negative reaction towards hijab and those who wear it.

My question is, do we not share the same faith? Are we not all blessed with the truth of this most beautiful deen? Have we not all been invited by the Lord of the Universe to testify to His truth? I don't care if you shroud yourself in 10 yards of fabric and the only thing I see are your eyes or if you choose to dress according to all the latest fashion trends of this society--you are a Muslim woman and you are my sister. I am NOT your judge and you are NOT mine. We need to stop the self-righteousness and instead of focusing on the issue of hijab, we should focus on the issue of modesty because that is something that applies to anyone who calls him/herself a Muslim.

Modesty is about confidence. The moment you decide to live and dress modestly you are making a very strong statement to the rest of the world that as a woman, as a free-thinking, intellectual, articulate and educated HUMAN BEING, you are taking the power back from every one who has ever made you question your self-worth. Modesty is about pleasing God and acknowledging the fact that He knows what is better for you than anyone or anything else in creation. When we are ordered to be modest is it for no other reason but to honor us, to raise us in esteem and to protect us? Similarly, when we are encouraged to dress immodestly is it for no other reason than to exploit us, demean us, and weaken us?

Whether you currently wear hijab but don't dress or act very modestly, want to take the next step in living modestly and wear hijab, or if you're not quite ready to wear the hijab, what about just making a commitment to dressing with self-respect and carrying yourself with dignity and class? This is as simple as forsaking the "skinny jeans" for looser ones, the low-cut tops for a higher neckline, the tank-tops for longer sleeves, and the short skirts and dresses for longer ones. And even more importantly, this is about changing your attitude and seeing yourself as more than just a walking coat hanger full of embellishments.

It's also important to note that those who already wear hijab and feel there is a contradiction between their appearance and behavior must not lose hope or, even worse, allow the whisperings of Shaitan to affect them by removing their hijab altogether. He is notorious for using our own insecurities, feelings of guilt, and low spiritual ebbs to push us away from God. We must remember that every action is judged by intention and the one who endures spiritual struggles but perseveres for the sake of God is rewarded more than the one whose spiritual matters are facilitated. So, ask God for strength and take measured and moderate steps to make the necessary changes. No matter where we are on our individual paths, we must constantly remember that the One who put us on there does absolutely nothing in vain and guidance and misguidance are His alone to decide.

God loves you. He created you, He fashioned you, He made you as you are and sees you wholly. His value of you is based on what you make of the beating flesh that resides in your chest; your heart is the only concern you should have with Him. And if you want to present a sound heart to Him then start thinking about what would make Him happy. The first step towards that is a commitment to changing anything that would displease Him. Immodesty displeases Him.

So, my beautiful Muslim sisters, hijabi and non-hijabi, let us renew our faith and love in Him and commit to living and dressing modestly. Which is not just an issue of the fabric or lack of on our heads but is an issue of ATTITUDE, of disposition, and ultimately seeking the pleasure of the only One who truly matters.

I love you all and sincerely wish you the best in this world and the next.

Unfolding A Rose

Bismillahi walhamdulillahi 'alaa rasulillah,

A young, new ustaz was walking with an older, more seasoned ustaz in the garden one day. Feeling a bit insecure about what Allah had for him to do, he was asking the older ustaz for some advice. The older ustaz walked up to a rosebush and handed the young ustaz a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals. The young ustaz looked in disbelief at the older ustaz and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of Allah for his life and ministry.

But because of his great respect for the older ustaz, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact… It wasn't long before he realized how impossible this was to do. Noticing the younger ustaz's inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older ustaz began to recite the following poem…

It is only a tiny rosebud,

A flower of Allah's design;

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I.

ALLAH opens this flower so sweetly,

Then in my hands they die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,

This flower of Allah's design,

Then how can I have the wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Allah for leading

It is necessary for us to make amends; to take what is easy and leave what is difficult; and very frequently, to overlook the faults and mistakes of others."

My Waiter

My dearest kitten, Waiter

Poor, poor Waiter.

She was attacked by Gemyin, my carpetlike cat who suddenly had an emotional outburst(chewah). Tho it was brief, it resulted in cuts that led to infection in the arm.

At first, she was like quite indifferent over the attack, tp lama2 dia macam chemey je. She started refusing to eat, that I have to start her on bottlemilk feeding course, and laid her in her bed.

How flattered I was to find her on my bed, in front of my face when I woke up this morning. The effort she took to climb, and the spot she chose...alahai cairr :)

It was Mama who noticed the swell on her arm. I thot it was just fat :(

Notice the swell. And the entangled patch of fur on his arm is bekas acriflavin yg i letak to dry the luka temporarily, and for anti-bac too.

So we headed to our vet in Bandar Sri D'sara, Dr. Supara. He gave an anti-inflammatory jab to Waiter, and prescribed syrup antibiotics.

Her antibiotics

Waiter behaved alll the way. Tho she was in pain im sure, she didnt make noise, n didnt give any trouble at all. Her condition cud have gone unnoticed(minus the fact that she was just lying down). Her eyes look fresh, she didnt loose any weight, and her fur wasnt oily.

My task twice a day from now on is to feed Waiter with hot milk, and bg 1ml of antibiotics saaampai habis. InshaAllah sihat and hopefully bengkak makin surut..

Up to tadi, Waiter is already following us around, walking or galloping, and she'll lie down only when any of us is next to her, baru dia nak baring tido. N she's eating already ^_^ Good sign lah mcm tu. My girl is a fighter! :D

Interesting facts:

1) The name Waiter was given to her because of the white patches she has on her chest(like a shirt), on her palms(gloves and socks) when the other parts are all black, like she is wearing a blazer.

See, she is wearing a shirt in side, with waistcoat and blazer summore :P Gamba ni time before dia kene attack.

2) On the examination table, Dr Supara asked me her name. When I said "Waiter" and explained why, he giggled and tilted her head slightly, to check on the white patch on her chest. Hahah!

3) Something occured to me tadi. U see, Waiter is a she. So, technically, her name shud haf been Waitress instead, kan? ;)

Med Checkup by Integral OHS

1) It was conducted efficiently, that it lasted only for half a day. Ok lah tu. Went at 830am, and got back home almost noon.

2) Among procedures undergone were bloodtest, urine test, full physical examinations, EKG, hearing + eyesight test, angiogram, X-Ray etc etc.

3) I had 7 vaccinations, all in which I received from 5 jabs. So both my arms tgh kejang, sbb each got good 3 jabs. Heheh ;p

4) Rupe2nye, I xdelah takut needles sgt. 6 needles in one go, 1 during bloodtest and another 5 for vaccinations. They gave me painkillers tho, in case I need it. As much as possible, I wudn't want to have to take em.

5) Among the advices the polite lady doctor gave me was to lessen red meat intake before I go over the limit (so far it's perfectly normal) and to ... ah, well .... EXERCISE! ;p

6) I seriously thot that my cholesterol level wud be high, since I consume like a monster, but it doesn't show physically. Nasib baik normal. It still haf to be put on watch tho :)

7) And so i got my cute yellow WHO card.

Ok lah, that's it for my record. Nak turun mamam, qadha the food i missed when I was fasting for this med checkup ;)

Yeah I know its lame, but I guess this is one of the things I should see as 1 obstacle, down :)

I finally succeeded in getting my P license!

Why is it sucha big deal that i passed?

1) I repudiate a replay of the whole process. Had I failed, the earliest I can resit for the test is 2 weeks later. I dun haf the time, nor the patience!

2) By now, Vivas are emerging in driving schools. As cool as it sounds, conducting the gears, clutches and etc of a Viva is diff from a Kancil. Clutch Viva manual lagi tinggi, and gear dia lagi keras. And it is rather unfair to haf to adjust to it in no time, I mean, only experienced drivers can manage that. Pretty pathetic too if you dun get to test it during lessons.

And during the trials, my jalanraya test was with a baby Viva. *wail*

Luckily justnow, they used Kancils all the way. Go go Kancils! :p

3) I didn't want to dissapoint my teachers and instructors in Metro.

En. Azman has given true moral support to me, yelling at me when I was almost affected by an unreliable teacher's comments during trials, 'patting' me on my back when I got good results, emphasizing on the potential I haf in me, and cutting me off when I wanted to start complaining, instead, asked me to just focus on making it happen, and to believe in myself. True driving teacher :) Besides that, En. Azraai pun, he tolerated my stories, and adviced me the few times that he sends me back home, on the rally he taught me well, also there was once when I left my MyKad at home (tuka handbag kecik punya pasal,xmuat wallet), he figuratively 'hid' me behind his back from En.Azman as so that I xkene marah. Hahaha :D Even Abg Yuzwadinata, making fashion statements all da time with his hippie dressing and horn-rimmed sunglasses, who turns out to be a very soft-spoken and patient instructor, strict nonetheless. "Signaaal jgn lupaaaa", he'll say in a low decible note, rebuking nevertheless. Enuff la nak buat I takut n ingat. Hahah.

I think i am lucky, to haf these ppl from Metro guiding me, Alhamdulillaaaah :):) Thank you so much to all of u! (tho i know you won't be reading this).

Hence, passing is such a big deal to me. Evenso, i tried to keep myself at healthy pressure level. It is just a driving license, afterall.

This time, I don't have to wait too long, unlike during my trials haritu. It went pretty smooth :) What a fortuity, turn number 24 on the 24th of March.

I am just soooo drained by this whole thing. But it is a happy problem, so I won't complain :)

Here is where my rollercoaster ride starts ~

Wednesday :

I got a call, saying that my status has been changed to International Mobile (IM) instead of Home Country Mobile (HCM). This means that i will no longer be based in Labuan, but overseas instead. Islamabad, Pakistan, to be precise :) So I'll be starting to work with SLB in May instead, since more time is needed to settle my Visa.

Thursday :

I was told, that if I can provide my degree certification/graduation scroll, along with my CV and passport by Friday or latest Saturday, I might be posted in Houston instead of Pakistan. Gosh, one shocking news after another ! So here goes, my convocation is in October, and it is usually that time that we get our scrolls right ? So i had to go begging to our favourite Abe Idhe, to somehow forward my request of getting the cert much much earlier to the management of the university. I even went to the extend of emailing our beloved Rector. Hahah.

Friday :

Early in the morning, I went to see Chin Na at Rohas Perkasa. And how grateful I am, that upon arriving, i was greeted by : "Nursyaheda, I have got good news for you!" in her chirpy cheerio tone. Turns out the party in Houston said that a letter of graduation and full academic transcript would do. So there we are, Mama, me and Chin Na in her office, discussing what is to be done. Our prime concern is to complete the application so that we can get it done on time.

And so, off we go to Perak to collect the docs. I was online thruout the journey, using my baby bband and baby roxanne which have been very helpful to me. I got my offer letter too otw to UTP. Finding out that our beloved Rector kindly replied my mail, emailing my oh-so-modest Registrar, calling him and his team, calling Abe Idhe for his advice, calling the Exam Unit .. and thank Allah, by the time I arrive in UTP, the documents were all ready. So I settled everything there and then, signed the offer letter I got on my way to Perak, and emailed everything to Chin Na ryte away.

By the time my mum and I arrived in KL that evening, we were drained, but happy :)

So if everything goes just fine, I will be heading to Houston this December, eventho I am starting with SLB in May, get all the exposure I need in Malaysia dulu. Seems like I have still got this whole year in Malaysia ! ^_^

Saturday :

Back when I was highschooling in SAMURA, I had this pair of foster grandparents and their family who took good care of me and my family, those times when we were there. So after 5 years, we were invited for their granddaughter's wedding. So my family and I just made a day trip there to see them.

Guess all of us had a good time together. Praise be to the AlMighty ! ;)

For once, lets make this inorganized. But no less sincere and heartfelt :)

It is like a heave of burden lifted off my chest, when I got the good news. I am released of Pet bond ^_^ Alhamdulillah. Simply because I want to keep my options open in the future, in case I choose to take a divert.Well mayb yes mayb not .. who knows ;) Tapi in short, I got what i wanted, aimed, and worked for. I can reapply any friggin time ! Sungguh, I can win an Oscar for my act lor tempohari ! Am totally not proud of it, but I do find it hillarious tho.

My hour glass is beginning to fill the bottom half and empty the top half. And the sands seem so fine, more like water molecules as they rush into its vena contracta. Heh, bear with me. 4 a.m talk ;)

Somehow, I am making changes in my life. In myself that is. For occasional reasons, I have been altered in personality, be it in betterment or the opposite thruout the years. Experience, observations, environment, community has made me who I am today. Baik buruk diri ini. Maybe I think too much. To some ppl, that may b a curse, to some others, a pluspoint. To me, both, depends on the situation lah X)

Life, is never a walk in the park. Not only for me, but for everyone, It is just whether u want to make any events in ur life, a significant one, or not. Ive been thru ups and downs, joy and grief, luck and inopportune. I have met the right ppl, I have met the wrong ppl, in fact, I have not even 'met' the significant ppl. Hah ! Tell me bout it.

But, up to this point, I rasa life I byk hikmah. Hikmah yang Dia limpahkan buat I baanyak sangat :) So I redha dgn apa yang mungkin ditakdirkan untuk I. A lot of things that I experience,yang ppl out thr are very fortunate not to experience, but a lot jgk yang I experience, that buat I rasa I ni special. Alhamdulillah.

So yeah, Im taking baby steps in taking my life to the next level, in many sense of the word !

Besides that, I am kind of rekindling long-time-no-see frenships, do my best to meet frens. Ppl who know me, know that I am like a glue to my family .. am not the type yang manjang je hangout dgn kawan2 sume, except when I am at uni. So, just so that I have memories to keep, and remember, I'll spare some of my days with my beloved frens. So WaA, Ady, Anis Lesly, Puu, Vell, Suu dll ... bila cheq nak jumpa hampa ni ?

Movies !! Woohoo .. movies memang I ske. Hahah. So I am making a point to go and watch any movies yang I rasa nak tgk. So far for this mth, Valentine's Day, Wolfman, My Name Is Khan, Percy Jackson dah tgk ... so mayb any of u can teman me watch Legion, Adnan Sempit, Niyang Rapik ??

My Name Is Khan : A tearjerker. Tho that's typical for Hisdustani-he films, this one carries the message of unity of the slaves of God, regardless of ur religion. Shah Rukh is sure a hellova actor, no doubt bout dat. A must watch !

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief : All about Greek myths, gods and demi-gods. Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Medusa, etc. Owkay2 jugak ..

Valentine's Day : In non-celebration of this event, I went to watch this movie just so that i can lay my eyes on my fav eyecandy, Taylor Lautner. He is not aall wolfey this time; and probly, Taylor Swift shud just stick to singing and songwriting ;p The most touching part is the scene when Julia Roberts (an Army Captain) took 13-hour flight only to spend a day with her son before catching another 13-hour flight :") Touching eyh.

Oh btw .. another thrilling moment in cinemas is the time when they preview Ironman 2 trailer ! Aduhhh .. it'll be out in May (will I have the time?). Ironman is by far the BEST movie I've ever watch. The other great movies take the lower ranks. Hehs. This time, they have Machine Man too. Cooler effects, hotter Downey ? *winks*

NGAAAAAA !!

Sura 36 : YaaSin

Name

The Sura (click link) takes its name from the two letters of the alphabet with which it begins.

Period of Revelation

A study of the style shows that it was either sent down during the last stage of the middle Makkan period or it is one of those Suras which were sent down during the last stage of the Holy Prophet's stay at Makkah.

Subject Matter and Theme

The object of the discourse is to warn the Quraish of the consequences of not believing in the Prophethood of Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and of resisting and opposing it with tyranny ridicule and mockery. The aspect of the warning is dominant and conspicuous although along with repeatedly giving the warnings arguments also have been given for the correct understanding by the people.

Arguments have been given for three things:

(1) For tauhid from the signs of the universe and from common sense;

(2) for the Hereafter from the signs of the universe from common sense and from man's own existence itself; and

(3) for the Prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad from the fact that he was facing all kinds of hardships in the preaching of his message without any selfish motive and from this that whatever he was inviting the people to was rational and reasonable accepting which was in the people's own interest.

On the strength of these arguments themes of reprobation reproof and warning have been presented repeatedly in a highly forceful manner so that hearts are shaken up and those which have any capacity for accepting the truth left in them should not remain unmoved.

Imam Ahmad Abu Daud Nasai Ibn Majah and Tabarani have related on the authority of Hadrat Ma'qil bin Yasar that the Holy Prophet said:

"Sura YaSin is the heart of the Qur'an."

This is similar to describing the Sura Al-Fatiha has the Umm al Qur'an (the essence or core of the Qur'an) because Al-Fatihah contains the sum and substance of the teaching of the whole Quran. The Sura YaSin has been called the throbbing heart of the Qur'an because it presents the message of the Qur'an in a most forceful manner which breaks the inertness and stirs the spirit of man to action.

Again Imam Ahmad Aba Da'ud and Ibn Majah have related from the same Ma'qil bin Yasar that the Holy Prophet said:

"Recite Sura Ya Sin to the dying ones among you."

The object is not only to revive and refresh the whole Islamic creed in the mind of the dying person but also bring before him in particular a complete picture of the Hereafter so that he may know what stages he would have to pass through after crossing the stage of this worldly life. In view of this it would be desirable that along with the recitation of the Sura Ya Sin its translation (click link) also is made for the benefit of the person who does not know Arabic so that the purpose of the admonition is duly fulfilled.

1) Up to this very moment, there are still Pyro-works in my neighbourhood. In fact, right in front of my porch! Thanx to having 80% Chinese neighbours ^_^

2) However, it is kinda pitiful for my old neighbours, loudly-barking dogs in their porches and alarm-burst of carS left by neighbours yang balik kampung. I mean, who's gonna turn their alarm off ? There goes the car batteries.

3) It is obviously a merry GongXi, since we are greeted by loud fireworks when we wake up, also when we are about to sleep.

4) N so dun blame us for joining ;P Thanx to Dd and Bb, our mercun supplier. Oh, why haven't anyone told me that there are spinning mercuns ? Also spinning mercun that flies up in the air like a UFO spaceship, and burst into sparks of stars at minimal noise, dropping the jaws of the lil Tionghua kids of a neighbour ? End up, we gave them some. Xsampai hati tgk diorg kagum. "Xie xie", kata diorg.

5) All of us spent the first day of CNY, washing n polishing Chiquita, Jules and Blue Devil. Nak pengsan jugak yeh basuh kereta.

6) Good thing bout shopping during CNY, u get lotsa limau as complimentary for spending a heap of ka-ching. Bad thing, the ker-ray-zee sales doesn't help a lot in managing ur spending habits. O.o

7) Oh btw, baby limau with the size of ping pong ball reminds me of u, Bella.

8) Mama, hope you love those fresh lillies, paws-perity mugs, and little dragon toink-toink :)

9) Oh ha, Gong Xi Fa Cai, Xin Nian Kuai Le to my Tionghua fwens ! Have a RAWR-ing year ahead ! :D

1) Pet SI. Intentionally making a fool of self, falsely projecting a problematic identity, encouraged blankness and stutter, demanding outrageous and self-centered position and location. In hopes of the non-recc status :P

2) Sounds easy. But was the hardest thing to do EVER. Totally the non-existent-Hyde of a Dr Jekyll. "For better good", mantra, mantra.

3) Have I mentioned that the smell of KLCC is refreshing and reenergizing ? :)

4) 03-2051 xxxx. In assumptions that the number is fr Pet, I called it back a few times but to no avail. I stopped calling when I was informed of the date n time of SI. Turns out that was the call from Petsains, to summon for interview today, the same freakin day. There goes my dream of sumhow working in KLCC. I missed it by chance, but I was ok with it. Some blessings in disguise, no ? :)

5) I hate for my beehive to be sardine-canned with people. KLCC was crowded ! It is seldom like this.

6) Hours and hours of chatting with Milk, and a scarce appearance of Pupu in loose pants and blazer. Did I mention that I HATE her eyelashes for being soo beautiful yet original ? Miss u girls. Wish Vell cud have joined too.

7) Laying my eyes on the ppl I usually bump into back in UTP, but this time it was in KLCC, it finally struck me that everybody is taking different paths, and life is no longer so green a grass. Wake up, Stand up, Grow up.

8) Lapa. M gonna go dig my honey jar :)
